The Start of Something New!

If someone had told my younger self that at 45 years old I would have a complete career change I never would have believed them.  But here I am today doing something that scares me and excites me at the same time – I registered for the Canfitpro Certified Personal Training Specialist course!  I have been a bookkeeper/accountant on and off for the past 20 years but my first love has always been fitness.  I told myself back in January that 2016 is going to be the year that I take the plunge and learn something new, and now I’m doing it!

Because I am a bikini competitor and very committed to my training in the gym, I have had several people ask me if I am a personal trainer.  Many people have suggested that I would be good at it, but frankly I never thought I would have the self-confidence to do it.  But I can say with all honesty that the highlight of my fitness journey is when other people tell me that I have inspired them to become a healthier version of themselves.  Because I love sharing my experience and knowledge about fitness and training I think that I will enjoy helping people this way in a more official capacity.

In other news, my competition training and dieting is going very well so far this week.  Since I am 11 weeks out, we have reduced my carbs a bit and increased my cardio.  So far I am still feeling strong (as you can see in this pic)!  This was actually a drop set of deadlifts with 185 lbs being the heaviest set.

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

  1. I’m 41 and getting into body building. Your age will be an amazing ASSET in your new venture… few are impressed with a 19 year old with a great body, but everyone is impressed with a 50 year old with a great body, and who knows how to get and keep that body over the years…. 🙂
