Bikini Competition Results and Pics!

Hello readers!

It has been many weeks since I last posted and a lot has happened since then!  I have taken a personal training course (but still have to do the exam), and I competed in bikini masters at provincials!  The entire time during prep I was not sure that I would be ready but finally I was and I am so happy that I did it.  I ended up taking home the first place award for bikini masters 45+!!  My goal was to improve on my physique from last year and I believe that I achieved that.

After a competition can be a bit of a difficult period because suddenly the intensity of training and dieting is no longer there and it can be a challenge finding new goals and motivation for working out and eating healthy.  After strict dieting for a period of time and getting very lean, it can be a little disappointing to go back to an “everyday” softer look for your physique.  I have never been one of those people who can maintain a stage lean body year round.  That being said, for now I am enjoying eating out with family and friends and going to parties and barbeques.  It has been a relief to not have to worry about every bite that I put in my mouth for a while. But eventually I will have to follow some kind of eating plan because I do not want to get fat!  I haven’t decided if I will compete again next year or not.  I am turning 46 in a few weeks and I am feeling the effects of heavy training on my body.  So in terms of eating, I do not have a set plan yet.  I was back at the gym today for weight training for the first time in about three weeks. I really needed the time off but it felt very difficult to get back into it. I am pretty sure I will be sore tomorrow!

I would like to also share some of my goals for the near future.  I find it helps to write them down!

  1. Take my personal training exam (and pass!)
  2. Blog more regularly.  I really love writing and sharing my passion for fitness with others!

Thanks for reading today!

  1. First of all, it’s great having you back in the blogging world! Yay!!! Second, congratulations on your trophy for grandmasters!!! Well done. I know it isn’t always easy and I struggle myself with dieting/exercise issues. But you were successful and that must mean a lot. Be encouraged!!! Good luck with your personal fitness exam. You’ll do well.

  2. Firstly well done and good luck with your exams.

I think the key to controlling your weight / diet long term is to find something that can become habitual / just part of everyday life. Check out my first blog. It tells about how I found a way (after many years of searching). Who knows? It may give you some ideas. It had to be quite easy got me. I don’t know if you are the same…you obviously have a great deal of self motivation to be able to get yourself into such good shape to compete.

    1. Thanks for stopping by commenting! That’s great you found a method of weight control that works for you!! So far my weight is holding steady but I will consider different options for the future depending on wether I decide compete again or not.

    1. Thank you! While competing I follow a low carb whole foods diet. I also keep protein pretty high to retain as much muscle mass as possible while cutting down. The rest of the year I try to keep my carbs quite low but right now I am in a relaxed post competition period. 🙂
